About This Blog
One of today’s most crucial IT manager’s tasks is keeping e-mail data reliable and available. DataMills’ EdgeSafe PST2PST Backup application enables system administrators, IT managers and business executives to add professional level enterprise backup capability. DataMills invites sys-admins and IT managers to the community of EdgeSafe PST2PST Backup customers. We are going to start the discussions, you hopefully will have something to say. There are technical topics which are not discussed in other places, basically individual PST database backup is not a feature built into Microsoft or other enterprise systems. There are business topics which are hard to fit into technical blogs, yet are as crucial to our daily work as other topics. There are corporate and strategy topics, from the regulations we see past as new laws to guidelines from regulatory agencies. There are new user trends like mobile device Outlook use and multiple PST database location with netbook use. All these topics in one place, related to PST database support is what we envision for this blog.
In today’s fast pace Windows management world, DataMills simplifies the task of PST backup and restore. This blog is about the technology, uses, practices (best and worst) and finally the policy driving our IT today. Our first phase in blogging is details and advice on how to run a good backup operation. The second phase will address the driving forces in IT policy. From regulations to practices, from related tools to new developments and from user trends to product introductions. IT needs to be dynamic and flexible, we at DataMills realize this every day. In the more distant future we will get into how people can use DataMills’ products in real life deployments. We get questions about compatibility, configuration and operation. How long does it take to do a remote installation and backup? How to deal with a massive amount of backup PST databases? What reports to keep and for how long? How often to look at backup warnings and errors? and what do do about them? Simple questions to some, yet vital to other.
